I remember that my aunt used to cultivate djon djon in the past, we were always happy to make djon djon rice at home when I was growing up. Riz djon djon smells so good.There is no party or family dinner without this dish.
To make it we use the dried mushroom. The first step is to soak the mushroom in water and use that black water to cook the rice and green beans (some like to add shrimp and fresh cashew to it). Riz djon djon is one of the extravagant dish in the Haitian cuisine.
